Dear MSSA Friends,
MSSA’s Senate Joint Resolution 7 has passed both Senate and House. Because it is a Resolution, it doesn’t go to the Governor for his approval. It is a done deal. Thanks to Senator John Fuller (R-Kalispell) for sponsoring this measure.
SJ 7 encourages the Montana University System to get spooled up with shooting sports. The problem is that we keep shipping champion Montana youth out of state to universities that have shooting programs with scholarships available because the MUS has no such programs.

What is the next step with this effort?
If you live in or near a Montana college town and are associated with or operate a shooting range, you need to reach out to the local MUS unit and inquire what you and your range can do to cooperate in getting SJ 7 implemented. Your first contact might be with the athletic department. Please keep me informed about what contacts you make and how that evolves.
The Legislature has spoken. Now it is up to the MUS and us to make this happen. Thanks for your help.
