--Gary Marbut, MSSA President
On May 26, we took GOP presidential contender Alan Keyes to the Deer Creek Range in Missoula, Montana. Pictured with Dr. Keyes is Gary Marbut, president of the Montana Shooting Sports Association and event host. Keyes is holding a Springfield M1A, the semi-auto version of the M14 rifle used by the U.S. military during the 60's, which fires 7.62mm NATO or .308 Winchester ammunition. Gary is holding a CAR15, the semi-auto and short version of the M16 used currently by the U.S. military, firing the 5.56mm or .223 Remington round. As Marbut told Keyes, these firearms are our "liberty teeth" as spoken of by President George Washington. A good time was had by all.

Keyes was in Montana for two rallies, in Helena and Missoula, both sponsored and organized by MSSA, and as commencement speaker at a school graduation for a Ronan school, held in nearby Polson to accommodate a larger crowd. He was also there for recreation. On one available afternoon, he went horseback riding into the Mission Mountains with friends. On another, he went to the Range with Marbut and the Montana Shooting Sports Association. Marbut said, "I am still reloading to make up for my ammo deficit caused by Keyes' enthusiastic participation in the shooting venture."
